Getting Organized in 2013 Part 1

One of my New Years resolutions is to be more organized.  I am a mini-hoarder of all things discounted and crafty.  I have a craftroom closet pile that is like a jenga game.  However, my craft room has come together nicely.

Most everything in this room was purchased on sale or was reconditioned to use in this room (i.e. our old dining room table).

Today's project is take my daughter out shopping and then to tackle the craftroom closet....wish me luck!

Cereal City Here We Are?

Moving to Michigan was a jump.  Not a huge jump, like jumping off a cliff or throwing yourself off a bridge.  It was more like that jump you do in the middle of the night at the bottom of your stairs when you think you are on the next floor and there is one more step you forgot about.  That feeling of comfort mixed with an unexpected surprise that could be extremely scary if not for the handrail - that's it.

This is not our first move.  Actually, this is my 3rd big move.  I moved from California to upstate NY when I met my husband.  We then moved to Illinois 10 years later as a family.  The actual moving of stuff isn't really that hard, it's just the adjusting period afterward that is hard.

I'll start with the bad things about this move:

Leaving the best teaching job I have ever had
Leaving my mom behind
Leaving our Illinois friends
Starting the kids in a new school again
Longer winters again
Moving all our stuff (i.e. realizing how much stuff we need to purge)

Ok, now the good things (so far):

Our house - inground pool/woodsy backyard
Starbucks nearby
Lots of shopping nearby
The smell of cereal in the air almost everyday
My new craft room
Golf course across the street
Walking distance from a large lake

It has only been 2 months since we arrived and I am finding new things everyday to be thankful for, including this awesome view from my backyard...
